"Maw, Paw, There was a big bad wolf out there tryin' to git our chickens"
Maw and Paw ran quick, but apparently by the time they got there, the wolf was gone.
Paw said "Here son, I want you to keep this here whistle, so whenever you see that big bad wolf again, just give it a mighty big blow and someone will be there lickety-split!"
Well, this news got around town and had the town folk in quite a stir. Farmers kept their livestock cooped up, momma's kept their youngens' indoors and paw-paw's went on the hunt for the big bad wolf.
Not much time had gone by when the sound of a whistle rustled everyone's feathers. They all ran to the boy. The boy claimed he had seen the wolf again. But whenever the town folk went a-lookin' , it had already disappeared.
The next day, very same thing. And then the next day the very same thing. this went on for weeks. Everybody's nerves was shot! Till one day- mid af'ernoon, the paw-paw's had returned with the news they had killed an old wolf, just then they all heard the whistle and went running again to the boy, who again had claimed they all just missed seeing the wolf. About this time, the towns folk realized that all this whistle blowing was a bunch horse feathers.
The boy was punished by his parents for telling a big lie.
When he was let off punishment, he trekked out down to the stream- where he would take an old rain bucket and fill it with stream water and pollywogs. This time, however he heard something rustling in the thicket behind him. And out came a big bad wolf. Just then he took out his whistle and blew. Blew so hard. But no one came. Oh the town folk heard it all right, but they thought it was just another one of his pranks. And Momma said "Just wait till I get my hands on that child!"
Well, Momma never did, he was gobbled up by that big bad wolf, whistle and all. And ever'-so-often you can hear the faintest sound of a whistle-stuck-in -the -throat of the fearsome big bad wolf.
The moral of the story~ Now when the whistle blows, you know it aint no lie that the big bad wolf be coming to town.
Sure is, stuck right there in the throat behind the patch on his chinny-chin-chin. A genuine patch of wolf fur is accompanied by an antique brass whistle and two wolf (coyote) canines. It is all stationed on 20" of texture brass chain.
