These silk aviator map cushions are made from original, mint condition, silk aviator maps that pilots would carry on their person when flying a mission. In the event the pilots were shot down the maps would then help in escape and evasion. Made from balloon silk the maps were strong and could easily be concealed on the pilots.
The Silk Aviator map cushions pictured here is Milano and is perectly paired up with Bruxelles, as both are the opposite side of the same silk maps and both are from regions of Europe.
