A nostepinne is a Scandinavian knitting tool used to wind your own center pull yarn ball the old fashioned, low-tech way.
Unlike one of those hand-cranked, mechanical ballwinders, a nostepinne is practically unbreakable, completely portable, does not require clamping to a table, needs no batteries and will not frizz merino yarns.
Lathe turned from natural wood , each one is different and unique - no duplicators or templates are used.
Sanded at 8 levels to 1500 grit, for a shiny, satin smooth finish, including the grooves - no snags. All natural exotic wood - no stain used.
This is a medium sized one made of Black Walnut wood.
It is 10 1/2 inches long, with 5 inches of usable sloped shaft for winding, and is 1 and 1/8 inch in diameter at the widest point.
Also has a one inch groove above handle for measuring Wraps per Inch. 2 tools in one.
