The brooch measures approx.65 mm x 55 mm and it has a locking safety closure, a good quality metal pin back. The back of the Brooch is beautifully finished with leather and my initials IM. are stamped into the sterling silver palette that is applied to the back (see last picture).
This brooch is of unique quality and style, it shows a great attention to detail in the design. It can be worn as a necklace as well. The brass chain is 24" (61 cm) plus 3" (7.5 cm) extension.

This romantic piece was created for the Etsy Beadweavers Team March 2011 Challenge, "Fashion Through the Ages." My piece is a reminder of the Victorian era. "Victorian jewelry" is a term used for the jewelry made in the United Kingdom during the reign of Queen Victoria, 1837-1901. The same term is used for European jewelry made in the 19th century. Some of the Victorian era jewelry was made in Gothic and Renaissance styles, featuring pearls and coral and later red garnets, usually in gold settings.
