The cake carrier top is held securely to the tray by a metal grip that runs across the top and holds under the bottom lip of the tray. The grip also acts as the carrying handle. There is a clear knob on top which is a bit loose right now but it can be tightened by the knob's screw/nut fastener.
The usable area of the tray (excluding the lip) measures 9" diameter. The entire tray diameter is 11.5". The entire carrier measures about 5" high (excluding the knob).
