I shoot with a lot of cameras. I buy a lot of cameras for various reasons - because they might have a roll of exposed film inside of them, or because they look nifty and I just want to try them out. I have an ever-rotating inventory of cameras, but I have a smaller, core group of cameras that I've bonded with, that are so freaking awesome that I couldn't imagine parting with them. One of those cameras is the mint green Savoy I bought two years ago. From the first roll of film I ran through that camera, I *knew* that it was going to occupy a prime slot in my camera collection. Even though it takes 620 film, and that means respooling 120 film, I didn't care. The Savoy was freaking awesome, and I use that camera all the time.

The camera in this listing is not my prize mint green Savoy, but rather, one of the Savoy's siblings, the seldom seen Sky Blue Savoy. Honestly, I've never seen another one of this color. Let me tell you, there was a mighty SQUEE when I came across this one. :)

This is a very simple point and shoot camera. There's nothing to adjust, just aim and push the button on top. The film advance turns smoothly. The viewfinder and lens are a little murky.

Because of that murkiness, I wanted to take this Savoy on a test drive before releasing it out into the wild. So Travis and I drove around and shot a roll of expired Kodak Ektachrome through it. Once we developed the photos, we realized that we had yet another example of Savoy Magic! This Savoy takes pictures differently than my mint green Savoy, or my new emo Gray Savoy. The Sky Blue Savoy vignettes at the corners, but more importantly, shoots everything in a glorious soft focus. Every picture on the roll was lovely and just a little... soft. Misty. Glowy (especially if there was a white object in the picture). It's so freaking cool!

This Savoy does have some wear to it. The outside is a little funky, as you can tell from the photos, and has a chip in one of its corners. Fortunately, this didn't seem to affect the photos that we took - there wasn't any evidence of light leaks on the roll that we shot. The inside of the camera is clean.

The Savoy does take 620 film, which is the same width as the widely available 120. It's easy enough to respool 120 film onto a 620 spool (or you could contact someone like myself about doing that for you!). This camera comes with one spare 620 spool inside of it.

For examples of some of the photos I've taken with my Savoy, check out my set on Flickr here: http://goo.gl/Zi3bG There are photos using new and vintage film, respooled 120 and 35mm.

Camera size (without flash) - 3..5" x 3.5" x 3.5"
Camera weight (without flash) - 7 5/8 oz.
