36 x 24 inches
acrylic on stretched canvas
2009
This is an image of a guitarist I have worked into more than one painting in my life. I wanted to replicate the multiple silk-screened imagery of Andy Warhol, but I wanted to "paint" the multiples instead of just screening or printing them. So this painting, along with Guitar Man (blue) and Guitar Man (red), was made by painting a washed-out version of a photograph and "colored" by running wet acrylic paints over each painting.
These paintings look fantastic hung next to each other as a set of three, taking up quite a bit of wall.
This painting belongs to a select group of paintings that bear my signature as the letter "M," the first letter of my last name.
