I make these whale brooches from offcuts of wood and cover them in pages taken from my copy of Moby Dick that was falling apart. The listing is for one brooch chosen at random. Please let me know if you prefer your whale to face a certain way.
They measure approximately 2¾ x 2 inches (7 x 5cm) and have a traditional 1 inch steel brooch fastening firmly glued onto the back.
All of my brooches are one of a kind, made from collaging various bits of vintage paper onto off-cuts of wood and board that otherwise would be thrown away. Each brooch is given between 2-3 coats of varnish for protection and a super glossy finish. They have been known to survive trips in the washing machine, although such adventures are not recommended :D
I try to use as much recycled and reclaimed material in my pieces as possible.
