This 16-sided basket was made with extremely fine 28-gauge teal blue enameled copper wire, 27 gauge green copper wire, and is topped with a chocolate brown rim of 24 gauge copper wire. I've started making baskets with a new technique that allows me to fit more cross-pieces on a smaller basket, which lets me make sturdy baskets with finer wire -- but also makes for a much more time-consuming process!
At its rim, this beauty measures 6" across, excluding the finials, and it stands 2.25" tall. It is the result of about 7 hours of wire-wrapping work.
The enamel coating on the copper wire gives the baskets their various colors, and protects the wire from tarnishing, ensuring that it will be bright and shiny for years to come!
