The rocker at the bottom has enough give to let the toy rock freely, but can balance easily in the middle as well. The elephants are equal in weight so the toy demonstrates the concept of a fulcrum as children balance the elephants with their positions on the seesaw.
The elephants are cut by hand from cherry or walnut, 3" x 2 1/2" x 3/4". The seesaw board is poplar. The rocker section will be either walnut, cherry or maple. The seesaw is 9" x 1 1/4" x 1 1/2".
Our seesaw is a fun addition to any of our animal play-sets. They will all fit on the toy and children love to figure out which animals balance one another and how.
All the pieces on this toy are sanded smooth, with rounded edges. We finish our toys with homemade local beeswax/jojoba oil. A Manzanita Kids logo is found on the underside of the seesaw.
Your toy is handcrafted especially for you from American hardwood, and so may vary slightly from the photo.
This toy comes nicely wrapped in brown craft paper, sealed with a Manzanita Kids sticker. We use biodegradable packing material and/or recyclable newspaper to protect the toy in the box. A card with information about our family business and care instructions for your toy is enclosed with your purchase.
Please check our shop policies section for current shipping times.

ECO-FRIENDLY
We carefully select the best American hardwoods for our toys and buy from a local source. This beautiful wood is enhanced and protected by our own blend of beeswax and organic safflower oil, which we apply and polish by hand. The birch plywood we use for our modular toys is of the highest quality and exceeds the strict requirements set by the European Union and the California Environmental Protection Agency. Our toys are safe, durable, beautiful and meant to be passed to the next generation.
GIVING BACK
We are thrilled to be working with a local non-profit organization for 2012. Ryther is a recognized leader in behavioral health services for children and their families facing complex challenges. We look forward to donating our toys to many deserving girls and boys during the holiday season. Visit their site to learn more about this incredible organization. http://www.ryther.org
A SUSTAINABLE PLAN
Our family business was born out of the desire to offer natural, safe and challenging toys, while supporting our family. Sustainability is central to our work: we build our toys to sustain our family, to sustain play, to sustain learning, to sustain our local community, to sustain our environment. We hope our toys foster a love of learning, curiosity and imaginative play for your little ones.
