This sweet little treasure is what is called a “hurdy gurdy”. It is a music box that you do not wind, but turn the handle to make the music.
This music box works plays the tune "Moonlight Sonata”.
(Obviously, it being so small, it only plays a small, but recognizable, section of the song.)
Musicbox makers will have special interest in these, but watching the movements makes me wonder what you Steampunk friends could do with them?
