This luxurious Lincoln sheep wool pencil roving in a center pull bump wind comes from a favorite ranch of mine right here in Southern California. I hand select the top of the line fleeces myself and hand wash them so they are very clean. I hand drum card some of them into fiber art batts and send some to a friend of mine that owns a fiber processing mill to process into these beautiful pencil rovings in bump winds for me.
I have hand spun this fiber into beautiful single ply and double ply yarns and also used it for needle felting projects. It can be knit and crocheted directly from roving which makes really awesome wearable fiber art. The finished product can even be felted. This pencil roving is processed ready to spin as well.
I do my best to take accurate pictures. Please keep in mind that colors will vary slightly monitor to monitor.
Care: After spinning into yarn to set the twist the yarn can be hand washed in cool water with a mild soap being careful not to agitate it or it can felt! You can run the yarn through the spin cycle in your washing machine to get the excess water out and then hang the skein to dry slightly weighted while setting the twist. Garments made from Lincoln sheep wool yarn should be hand washed in cool water with mild soap being careful not to agitate it so it won’t felt. Either spin the excess water out in the washing machine or roll in a towel. Then reshape and lay flat to dry.
