Adorning the seas are various sailing vessels and fantastical imaginary sea creatures that are difficult to describe - a mermaid windsurfing on a friendly-faced sea beast, a lion-face monster fish with a curly pig-like tail and a bizarre shrimpish creature with a humanoid face.
Even more absorbing are the continents where indicated are the known cities, mountain ranges and navigable rivers of the explored world. More strange creatures dot the landscapes - a rhinoceros, a dragon and a fork-tongued dog. In the "Terra Incognita" of Antarctica the artist lets his imagination roam. Here he envisions a fantasy world inhabited by unicorns, griffons and what appears to be an abominable snow man. Simply a seminal work demonstrating a mastery of both cartography and creative interpretation.
Shown in the photo is the exact same size mural used as a woodstove hearth. The map makes for a lovely kitchen backsplash to get lost in while standing at the sink washing dishes or a bathroom mural to stare at while relaxing in a hot shower. It would also make for a beautiful tabletop. Lots of possibilities...
The mural measures 3.5 x 7 feet. The design was printed by us and kiln-fired on 6" ceramic tile. It is completely impermeable to the elements and under normal conditions would last several lifetimes. The tile we used is available in commercial hardware stores and can easily be integrated in a general tiling project.
As with all of our maps, this image can be scaled up or down depending on your size preference. Please feel free to contact us if you are interested in a different size or another map. We have a large selection of digital maps and we may have what you are looking for.
