The raven skull measures 36mm from the back of the skull to the tip of its beak (not including the jump ring), and is 15mm at its widest point.
Like all Lost Apostle jewelry, the raven skull is hand carved, cast in high quality jewelers bronze, and hand finished. This piece was given a patina to bring out all the details in the skull and the tribal design, and then it then gets a really good polish to bring out the lovely colour and warmth of the bronze. Finally, as with all our jewelry, we gave this piece a special treatment to protect it from tarnishing – unlike untreated bronze this skull will keep its polish and shine for years.
The pendant is hung on approximately 80cm of the finest and strongest Spanish brown leather. We spent a couple of years in Barcelona and found a fantastic shop there selling its own traditional leathers – something that their family has been doing, in the same shop, for the past 200 years. When they said this leather was their finest, we believed them. The leather will age beautifully and as with all the finest leathers, the more you wear it, the softer it will become.
I’ve also included a photo of the Lost Apostle bronze clasp that comes with the leather. I designed this clasp myself, and it allows you to not only adjust the necklace to whatever length you want to wear it, but also saves having to tie a messy great knot in the leather itself.
