Japan is the heart and soul of Paper Demon Jewelry. My heart breaks for the people of the country that has been part of my life and family for almost 30 years.
100% of the profit of this necklace will go to the American Red Cross in Japan.
This necklace features a deep red heart and a white peace dove, made from traditional Japanese washi (mulberry) paper on brass.
Together they symbolize hope for Japan's recovery from these multiple calamities. Red and white are the colors of the Japanese Hinomaru flag. The peace dove also symbolizes Japan's 60 year old anti-nuclear peace movement and its long, long opposition to Japan's reliance on nuclear energy. The red heart symbolizes compassion, a core Buddhist tenet, and the greatest need right now for the victims of these multiple calamities.
The heart and dove are sealed to a hard, water resistant finish (but please do not submerge). They hang on a 16 inch black satin cord.
Other cords can be substituted on request. Can also be made as a pair of earrings (one heart and one dove) for even more visibility (earrings on brass wire earwires or sterling ear wires for $2.00 more). For either of these options, just include a note in Note To Seller at Checkout.
