Grasshoppers in a southwestern spiny oyster, African turquoise and sterling silver Native American style sci fi story necklace.

Graduated cantaloupe orange spiny oyster shell discs are home to five large and exquisitely detailed green grasshoppers. Between the discs, are brown heishi, and a few rondelles of African turquoise, which is actually a jasper. The clasp is done in the Native American style with sterling silver cones, wire, and hook.

The cantaloupes start out small and get bigger and bigger and BIGGER. And the grasshoppers are munching them!!! Uh Oh.
The 1957 ultra low-budget sci-fi movie “Beginning of the End” featured these gigantic monster grasshoppers. The scientist in the story grew huge fruits and veggies using radiation, you know, to benefit mankind?? Feed the world?? Sound familiar? Well, the grasshoppers ate the irradiated food and mutated into GIANTS. And attacked the city of Chicago.
So, there you go, natural food IS safer and better!

This necklace is just under 27"(68.58cm). It will be shipped USPS with insurance and domestic tracking included in the shipping price. I do use signature confirmation for shipments over $100. International buyers not mentioned below please convo for shipping options.
