6 layer reduction with 2 blocks
Edition of 4
8" x 12" (image) 11" x 15" (paper)
I wrote about this print on my blog here: http://wordsonwoodcuts.blogspot.com/2011/03/giant-moose-of-cat-cat-haiku-1.html
This is the first completed illustration for a book of twelve haiku poems about pet cats. Here is the haiku that goes with it:
A giant moose of a cat
Drifts off to sleep, and
Dreams of mouse-shaped sheep.
The print is signed with its edition number and the entire haiku in pencil. I print each piece by hand with a wooden rice paddle so every one is unique. I used a reduction method meaning that the block was destroyed as part of the art-making process and no future editions can be printed.
