This running rabbit image has it's origins in Medieval times. Designed and originally made by Cisterician monks in the 1100's, this pattern was found on the floors of medieval abbeys of England. This charming tile depicts three rabbits running in an enclosed circle with clovers and leaflets in each corner.
I've carved the pattern in wax, poured a plaster mould, pressed it in porcelain clay and glazed it in one of my Victorian style glazes, a lovely slate blue. It measures approximately 4" x 4", varying slightly due to its handmade nature. Set this tile as a highlight in your fireplace facade, kitchen backsplash, or bath.
