I made this as a "spring" soap. Where I live, spring is the time to detoxify the body inside and out. It is not unusual to find a place to roll in the wet mud on a sunny day (let it dry and rinse off) and to eat new dandelion leaves raw and cooked. So, this soap is born. There is such a demand for this soap, it has become a standard part of the inventory.

Why these ingredients:
Distilled water is used as a medium for my lye and oils to mix and make soap; I also use this water to make my sprays. It has nothing in it but pure water.
Olive oil (I use only organic virgin olive oil – organic because it is just a few dollars more per 35 lb. box, and virgin, because after testing all three grades in castile soap, which uses 100% olive oil to make the soap, the virgin oil produced the most beautiful and effective soap, according to my customers.) is good for mature, inflamed, or dry skin, providing disinfectant, anti-wrinkle, and wound healing properties. It retains moisture to the skin by forming a breathable layer, and like jojoba oil, shea butter, and kukui nut oil, it does not block the skin’s natural functions while performing its own. My aromatherapy book says this oil reduces stretch marks during pregnancy, provides 20% sunscreen, and WATCH as may be a sensitive skin irritant. In soap, this oil creates a long lasting, non drying mild soap with creamy lather – and no other soap making oil contributes its unique set of characteristics.
Sodium hydroxide (also called lye) is required to make soap. A caustic alkaline interacts with the fatty acids of the soap making oils, through a process, to become soap. I often run into this slogan on the internet: “No lye, no soap, no lie”. There is detergent and there is soap. Lye is required to make soap.
Activated charcoal absorbs most organic and inorganic chemicals that do NOT belong in the body.
French green and pink clays are highly effective clays for their sterilizing and purifying qualities. They are very absorbent and cleansing to the skin sebum; they detoxify and exfoliate, producing a cooling effect on the skin; the clays constrict follicles and deep cleanses the epidermis.
Rhassoul clay is very high in trace minerals such as silica, magnesium, iron, calcium, potassium and sodium, making it truly one of the finest treasures for pampering your skin. Because of the high mineral content, astringent properties, and absorption properties, Rhassoul clay is a wonderful and effective clay for cleansing, detoxification, and for general skin care treatments. In clinical tests, Rhassoul has been shown to be effective on skin elasticity, clogged pores, removes dead skin layers, removed surface oil from skin, improves skin clarity and appearance, and reduces flakiness and dryness of both the scalp and skin.
Green Tea’s health benefits are well documented. This antioxidant-packed drink helps fight free radicals, naturally occurring atoms that can cause disease and premature aging. To maximize the many benefits of green tea, you can use it in different ways as a topical treatment for the skin to protect against sun damage, combat signs of aging, treat inflammatory skin conditions and soothe cuts and sunburns.

Kelp used in skin care products has proven to be very beneficial at stifling the aging process. The vitamins and minerals in kelp helps to keep the skin nourished and moisturized. Kelp has nutritional benefits for great skin such as chlorophyll, folic acid, vitamins A, B12, D, and iodine. (Chlorophyll (in supplement form or from green vegetables, namely spinach) has antioxidant/anti-inflammatory effects.)
