This is a special envelope in Japan called a "shugibukuro". You use this to give money to people for weddings, birthdays etc. This has a crane which is a lucky symbol for a long happy life. It comes with a small white envelope that you would normally put the money in and then put into the gorgeous envelope but you can use this for anything.

The crane is an eleborate and gorgeous creation made from different coloured wire. You can cut up these gorgeous envelopes and use the paper for different projects and use the crane in making cards or for scrapbooking or any project you can think of.
