for this piece, i was inspired by the simple beauty of antique bridal hair pieces. i've used beautiful old crocheted lace, a creamy cashmere wrapped around the crown, and lovely vintage buttons in shades of white. the textile orchid is sewn from a fine white muslin, recycled cashmere, and vintage kimono silk, with a bit of lace and a pretty vintage button in the center.
the crocheted lace around the back can be pulled through, making the crown fully adjustable. several vintage buttons are attached to the end of the lace, and can be pinned to the hair in various positions. or the lace can be left looped further down to neck, for a beautiful antique look. the top half of the crown has a wire base that is also fully adjustable to the width of the head.
