Yak fiber is downy soft but incredibly short in staple length - under 1"! In order to make it more spinner-friendly, in these batts it has been sandwiched between thin layers of commercially prepared Merino and Alpaca fiber. That means these batts are squeaky clean and free of veg matter but the yak down is rather lumpy compared to the longer staple fiber. It can be caught up in the longer smoother fiber as you spin and will impart it's incredible warmth and lightness to your finished item.
On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being potscrubbers and 10 being a baby's bottom this fiber is a 7-8 with a very soft hand. 72% Merino, 15% Alpaca, 12% Yak down
This fiber will felt and can also be dyed, although I recommend dyeing the finished yarn rather than the batts. Hand wash in lukewarm. Lay flat to dry.
This listing is for 4 batts with a total weight of 3.7 ounces.
