The facets on this beautiful serving piece are so brilliant you could easily mistake it for cut crystal. It's not...it's a very fine piece of depression glass in a rich amber shade.

An elegant 11" oval ( 5" across at its widest point) the design features stylized pineapples and starbursts. Surrounded by a serrated edging, it is 1 1/2" deep. I haven't been able to determine the manufacturer or pattern, but it may well be either Fostoria or Indiana. It is heavyweight and in excellent condition—no chips, cracks or dull spots.

Perfect for celery, of course, it's suitable for relishes, olives, bread or candy. But it's so lovely in it's own right, you might just want to leave it empty and enjoy the play of light.

Thanks for flying with The Magpie!
