This is a fine example of a typical 1950s dress with a fitted part boned bodice and full gathered skirt. It can be worn on or off the shoulder and has small puffy elasticated sleeves: very cute!
It is in a peachy orange sheer nylon fabric with flocked velvet flowers (very typical of the decade), has a peachy orange underskirt and a starchy muslin attached petticoat under that to give added fullness. The bodice is fully lined in the same fabric as the underskirt. The dress is belted with a buckle both in the same fabric as the outer of the dress. The very full gathered skirt is finished with a lovely scalloped hemline edged with black velvet. Fabulous!
This has been rarely worn and is in excellent condition.
