I created this piece after a visit to my husband's family farm in rural KY. The original farmhouse that his Grandparents lived in, and Uncle still lives in, is seen in the top right corner of this piece. The summer that we visited, they were growing corn, which was just as high as an elephant's eye. The corn field is reflected in their peaceful pond, which is said to be home to a mermaid. Although I've never seen her myself, I have seen unexplained ripples in the water...
Comprised of thousands of pieces of hand-painted, rolled and tied paper, affixed to a background sheet of stunning handmade bark paper. Accented with beads, representing family roots. Framed in a beautiful custom silver box frame.
