Wow, this took hours and hours to complete. Actually I think I clocked about 90 hours all together. The bottle is about 6 inches tall and totally covered in tiny little delica beads in a variety of deep burgundy, pearl, gold, and lavender colors. The stopper is totally covered in tiny, tiny size 15 seed beads with little delica beads at the top. Whew! Now that's a lot of beads. I didn't count them but I know I went through many tubes of beads!
The lovely little lavender and white flowers are blue anemones. These arrive in the early spring in my Montana mountain garden. They are soon followed by these little yellow and black butterflies. I actually created the pattern for the butterfly from a picture I took last spring in my garden. Then I found a drawing of a butterfly and made the body from polymer clay and it is anatomically correct.
I created this beaded glass bottle for the April Etsy Beadweavers challenge "Spring Around the Corner". I really cannot believe I was able to finish it in time. My family will attest to the fact that not much else went on around our home except beading on this bottle!
This was a joy to make! I think of it as simply a beautiful art piece that sits proudly in a place of honor! It could be functional, but why? I don't think everything I make needs to be worn or used. Sometimes I intend for it just to be admired!
