Light Taffeta with Tulle Underskirt

Description: Amazing 50's party/prom dress originally sold from the specialty store Edward Hurwitch in Hartford, Connecticut. There are no fiber content tags but the plum colored material appears to be a light taffeta and the two layers of black underskirting have the feel of a very, very light tulle net. Although there are no size tags, it measures small to medium. (My mannequin was padded to a 34 bust and I still had to clip the back of the dress for fit...the midriff is rather wide) Please see "How I Measure" and measurements below to ensure a proper fit.
Features of this sensational vintage dress include a sleeveless shelf bust with boning in the front, sides and back for shape, inverted V at the sides of the hips, gathering along the lower bodice/hips, an extremely full skirt that creates that perfect rustle sound, two layers of black light tulle netting, inside pinked seams, and a metal back zipper for closure.
Measurements: Underarm to Underarm 16 1/2 inches...Approx Bust 34 to 36, Shoulder to upper waistband/shelf bust 4 inches, Side to side at upper waistband 14 1/2 inches, Underarm to natural waistline 7 inches, Side of natural waist to other side 13 1/2 inches, Side of hips to side of hips approx 21 inches, and Underarm to bottom hem 50 3/4 inches. The sweep is 166 1/2 inches!
This vintage dress is in very good condition with a few notable issues: The plum fabric has an overall light discoloration which is so uniform that it appears to be the way it was meant to be. There is a 1 inch open seam in the center of the front bodice, a1 1/2 inch open seam under the right arm, one teeny thin spot on the skirt which is only noticeable upon close inspection, and very light discoloration under the arms. Although there are no obvious stains, it does have some surface dirt which will probably come out with a proper cleaning. The hem is not original.
