Custom made by a seamstress shop in Yokosuka, Japan (home of a US Naval base). To be honest, I think this dress was professionally shortened when hemlines went up in the later 60s... a deep 4 1/2" + hem allowance can easily be let out to create a tapered "bombshell / wiggle" 50's fit.
Superior quality heavy silk satin brocade in deep, soft creamy orange with a delicate motif of Japanese cherry blossom branches. Linings in jacket, dress & original belt are silky pale apricot with a muted woven Japanese motif.
Superior construction: Beesom finished buttonholes; fabric covered buttons; handmade matching fabric belt; hidden lingerie strap holder; metal back zipper; and extra snaps, not to mention finely finished notches and seaming everywhere you need them for a deliciously perfect fit.
This dress is curvy - especially if you opt to let out the hem for a true bombshell / wiggle silhouette. The little silk tassled collar accent is pinned from within so it can be removed if desired. The suit jacket is boxy - similar to the cropped styles worn by Jackie Kennedy in the early 60s.
LABEL: Betty Yokosuka Japan ~ it's fine, heavy (slipper satin weight) silk brocade - dry clean only (but it arrives MINT and ready to wear).
MEASUREMENTS: of garment itself - taken on the inside whenever possible. Please compare to comething that fits you & leave room for comfort - no stretch in these fabrics!

LENGTH ~~ 17" from top shoulder seam to waist seam; skirt is 22 1/2" (or 26 1/2" if you opt to let out allowance & you'll still have a normal hem allowance @ longer length)
BOTTOM SWEEP - 37" with a walking pleat in back
