This handmade ceramic tile depicts a musical frog, croaking.....I mean singing......as he enjoys the pond water flowing over his feet - what a treat! The frog in this listing is the frog in the center.
The inspiration for this tile is taken from a Victorian postcard. I just love their playful imagery and was happy to be asked to create a series of tiles based on them. I carved the image in wax and cast a plaster mould. After extruding a slab of porcelain clay, I pressed the mould into it and cut and sponged the edges. After firing the tile I glazed it in a glossy transparent grey/green crackle and fired it a second time. This tile measures approximately 5 3/4" square.

The whole 3 tile panel is shown in the bottom photo - if you'd like the set, just let me know. I've included a photo of the fireplace layout that I originally carved them for, that includes Daylily panels and Dogwood flowers. I can create this same fireplace for you upon request!
