:: The knot density on this piece is exceptional for its type, as is the saturation of the dye, and colors, but what is especially charming are a few unique elements within the design which are not seen often in this era of Sarouks; Note the unusual samovar shaped design elements in each corner of the field. These are in outstanding contrast with white body outlined in dark blue, and extremely well reconciled being centrally pointed - a unique design touch hardly found in Sarouk rugs.
:: Additionally, floral sprays, while not atypical of Sarouk rugs feature outstanding contrast with visible 'branch' interpretations which actually realistically taper, and woven quite realistically - unusual and advantageous for a weaver to do in such a small size demonstrating fine knotting and high skill level.
:: The only conditional notes worthy of mention on this rug are: 1. a very faint striation of wear (appears and disappears through the width toward the center) which is about 2 cm wide. 2. one end shows very slight loss to just some areas. Some edge curling which is typical for this type of rug. 3. a couple of small moth bites that have taken out the pile -- can really only see when up close to the rug. *This rug is in used vintage condition and may require cleaning at some point down the road.
