No, there are no wild monkeys on Kauai, but a friend who visited us there was sure one was the source of night-long shrieks. The noise turned out to be a branch scraping an overhead gutter, but that’s hardly worth painting. This monkey is inspired by a wild monkey my daughter photographed in Thailand. I thought it would like sitting among banana trees, philodendron, a red anthurium and white shell ginger. The original is painted in acrylic on canvas.
