Make your own cool stuff and unique gifts with leftover yarn using these three knitting patterns that I developed. Each one can be knit in an evening, then felted in the washing machine.
It's great for a family knitting together, such as Waldorf-inspired homeschoolers. The needle case in particular is an easy beginner project for a child and can be used with their other knitting or sewing projects once completed.
These are all felting projects, so they use a nonwashable wool or wool-mohair blend or similar animal fiber (but not angora, which doesn't felt), or Soy Silk, which is a feltable synthetic. You could make all three of these from one 3.5 oz (100 gm) skein if you don't have leftovers sitting around that you want to use up.
Each pattern states amount needed by weight, so if you have a kitchen or postal scale, you can see if that clump of yarn is enough for the project.
It's illustrated with color photographs, and has a brief introduction defining all the knitting terms that I use, and links to some very helpful knitting sites with tutorials. I gave the pages wide margins so there's plenty of room for your notes, and offer some tips on keeping track of your place when following a long pattern.
One is the needle case that I sell on this site, which is suitable for beginners. Here's an example

One is a medium-sized coin purse, which is still quite easy.
The third is a little frog, which is for more experienced knitters. Here's an example of that:

It's 12 pages, plus the cover, which has an informative colophon at the back, and is hand-stitched with linen thread (no staples). Printed on 30 percent postconsumer recycled paper.
