Hydrangeas have always been one of my favorite flowers. The cool purpley magentas and rich periwinkle blues of their blossoms, and the depth and textural complexity of their petal formations I have always found so fascinating. This one of a kind painting celebrates the hope of new life with lush, vibrant spring colors in my own interpretation of these beautiful botanicals. Each flower has been slowly built up in a multitude of transparent and opaque layers, creating a unique textural richness and glowing depth of color.

This painting doubles as art that can be displayed in your home, or worn as a special, unique accessory - the colors are permanent, meaning the silk can easily be washed!

For home display, this would look gorgeous if framed and displayed either vertically or horizontally, or I can construct a simple dowel hanger for the silk to drape as a beautiful double sided tapestry like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyinmystudio/4798264796/in/set-72157624151027196 (message me for more details).

For wear as a unique accessory, the 14”x72” length is super-versatile for tying – try looping it around in a double knot, or tie the two ends together and let the scarf hang loosely for a casual but graceful look. Another effortlessly chic look is to drape the silk around the back of the neck and cinch at the waist with a belt.

The 12mm Crepe de Chine silk has a soft, slightly textured feel, drapes beautifully, and yields rich, vibrant colors.

---How This Was Crafted----
This one of a kind painting was slowly and deliberately created by applying thin, transparent layers of naturally thickened, non-toxic dyes directly to the silk, guided completely by intuition, without the aid of stenciling or tracing.

---Care Instructions----
To care for your new scarf, dry clean or hand-wash in cold water with a drop of mild soap. Rinse, and blot dry with a soft towel. When silk is just slightly damp, iron on the backside on low setting. A small care card is included with each purchase.

----Quality---
All of my scarves are made to last a lifetime. They are painted with professional-grade silk dyes, then steam set for five hours for ultimate performance and wear. Unlike paints that sit on the surface of the silk, dyes chemically bond with the silk fibers during the steaming process, yielding the most brilliant colors possible.
