Interestingly, I never read or saw the movies! But I decided this made it even more interesting to challenge myself to create a jewelry for a character.
I was captivated by the image of Gollum "a fictional character from J. R. R. Tolkien's legendarium. He was introduced in the author's fantasy novel The Hobbit, and became an important supporting character in its sequel, The Lord of the Rings" (Wikipedia)
What strikes me in Gollum are his eyes. I imagined a necklace that captures that look. I used black onyx, howlite and hematite stones: creating a striking piece with strong black and white contrasts. Galvanized silver beads is used to add a metal, jewelry feel.
I used a lightweight, tarnish resistant gunmetal plated chain as the necklace. The backing of the necklaceis a black ultrasuede piece and the closing is a beadwoven toggle.
Approximate length of the necklace: 55 cm/21.6 inches
Approximate width of the necklace: 17.5 cm/6.9 inches
Approximate heigth of the necklace: 15 cm/6 inches
