This bunny is always the first project I have my students make when I teach a softie-making class. They're a great way to learn some basic softie techniques, and after you get one under your belt you'll have all the skills you need to start designing your own simple softies.

Size:
The finished softie is 9 inches tall (16 inches if you count the floppy ears) and 6 1/2 inches wide across the bottom. My daughter says he's the perfect size for snuggling.

Materials you'll need for each bunny:
1/3 yard main fabric
scraps of fabric for the ear linings
scraps of felt for the hands, feet, nose, and tail
embroidery thread
squishy stuffing - polyester or wool
sewing machine
thread
basic sewing tools

sewing and clipping curved seams
transferring an embroidery pattern
embroidering eyes
splitstitch
embedding things in a seam
closing up a stuffing opening
using the iron
stuffing a softie or pillow

Time you'll need:
4-5 hours for each bunny
