This cloth poster is made with a linen cotton front and backed with natural cotton. Attached to stained wooden dowels, and hung by a leather lace, this poster is inspired by old school maps and charts.
The trees represented on this poster are those of the canadian carolinian forest region, which is located in the southern part of ontario, south of an imaginary line that runs approximately from Grand Bend to Toronto. It is Canada's smallest and most southern forest, which takes up only one percent of Canada's land area, but has one third of the country's rare, threatened, and endagered species.
All of the trees are original hand illustrations, screen-printed on the cloth using non-toxic water based pigments. The trees represented are: White Pine, Sugar Maple, Tulip Tree, Sycamore, Eastern Hemlock, Eastern White Cedar, Basswood, and White Oak.
The poster measures approx. 24" wide by 18" high. The back is printed with the title 'trees of the carolinian forest'.
