This lovely 'g' measures
1 1/2 x 2 inches
(3.8 x 5cm)
and has a 1 inch steel pin firmly glued on the back.
It is covered in strips of vintage maps of London.
All of my brooches are one of a kind, made from collaging various bits of vintage paper onto off-cuts of wood and board that otherwise would be thrown away. I laser cut the letters so they are perfectly shaped and sealed at the edges. Each brooch is then given between 2-3 coats of varnish for protection and a super glossy finish. They have been known to survive trips in the washing machine, although such adventures are not recommended.
I try to use as much recycled and reclaimed material in my pieces as possible.
