This crochet, beaded flower garland is my new design. Seven periwinkle blue flowers and six green leaves dangle from a 70 inch leaf green chain, studded with glass periwinkle beads. Each flower has a lavender center and is 2 inches across; the leaves are about 1 3/4 inches long. Every new garland I make, I am sure is my favorite, and this one is no exception! I love the blue beads on the green chain. So lovely I can't stop looking at it:)
My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was just a little girl. Our home was filled with examples of crochet work made by my grandmothers and great-grand mothers. I crochet these garlands in the manner of vintage doilies, with fine threads and tiny steel hooks. It brings me joy to be able to carry on this tradition of feminine handicraft today. I can almost always be found with a crochet hook in hand!
I enjoy decorating my own home with crochet garlands. I move them around the house, draping them over mirrors, bookcases, and mantels, and hang them in windows. They look great on the wall, accenting an arrangement, or you could hang them from a headboard to add a romantic, cottage chic touch to the bedroom They make lovely gifts for a sister, a friend, or your bridal party, and would be a charming addition to your wedding decor.
The garland is easy to care for; give it a dusting now and then. If it gets soiled you can hand wash it in cool water with mild detergent. Rinse carefully and lay it flat to dry.
