My sister was diagnosed with MS in December of 2009. The news devastated our family and friends, but Katie held her head high and continues to be an example of what positivity can inspire.
After the shockwaves of emotion subsided from the diagnosis, I began to try to figure out a way to make a change. As a jewelry designer, I decided to create a necklace that would honor my sister and her courage in tackling MS. The proceeds from all sales of my "Katie" banners will go to the MS Society through the following fund:
The banner reads "Je Suis Courageuse" which translates from French to "I am Courageous." It is to honor her that I have made this necklace.
Details: This banner is made from recycled fine silver and measures 2.5 inches across. It is accented by a sterling silver chain which measures to 18" and closes with a lobster clasp (length of chain can be changed if you would like). It is made with love and in honor of my sister's strength.
More about MS:
Multiple sclerosis (or MS) is a chronic, often disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system (CNS), which is made up of the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. Symptoms may be mild, such as numbness in the limbs, or severe, such as paralysis or loss of vision. The progress, severity, and specific symptoms of MS are unpredictable and vary from one person to another. Today, new treatments and advances in research are giving new hope to people affected by the disease.
