Offering a beautiful mid-century vintage brooch and earrings set, in an artist's palette and paint brushes pattern. Red enamel with flecks of green and white on copper, produced by Renoir for their Matisse line by Jerry Fels, between 1952 and 1954. This popular pattern is pictured several times in Burkholz and Kaplan's fine reference book, Copper Art Jewelry.
The brooch measures approximately 4 1/4 inches x 1 3/4 inches and is signed Matisse in script on the back; each clip-on earring measures 1 13/16 inches x 3/4 inches and is signed on the back of the clip. The set is in excellent condition, the copper is bright and the enamel perfect, with no scratches or chips. Both the brooch and the earrings are in great working order.
Founded in 1946 by Jerry Fels, Renoir of California produced copper jewelry until about 1964. The Matisse mark was used only on the gorgeous enameled pieces produced, starting in the early 1950s.
Classic and colorful, this beautiful brooch and earrings set will add dimension and drama to your vintage wardrobe. A wonderful Valentine's gift for the art lover!
