Leather Nine West 3-inch heels with fancy-dancey wingtip details and nice cross-straps and a wee buckle, upcycled from one of my favorite secret source secondhand stores. Hand painted by me with professional leather paints and sealed for permanence (as I said, painting for hours and hours, while listening to Counting Crows and thinking about my year in grad school in Santa Cruz studying Scientific Illustration with a colleague who made incredible painstaking fish illustrations...he would literally count the scales). Wish they fit me, but they are a womens' size 7.5.
Alright, this name is a stretch, but I spent a while googling around for a good name for these awesome shoes, perhaps with a fish or scale or dance pun involved, but nothing really struck me, so I named them after one of my google searches. Cross-strap heels are great for dancing though, as they stay on your feet. And "mango" was irrelevant, and "tango" was repetitive.
Wear them with a black pencil skirt and a sweater to the office (and to drinks afterwards). Or with a drape-y tango dress. Or wear them with your koi tattoo.
