The piece measures almost 9 inches long and 8 inches wide at its widest point. The flower itself has a diameter of 3 inches.
This piece is quite elegant and rather complicated. The flower is a nested flower, which takes more time to fold and shape than most of my other flowers, since the inserts have to be lined up just right.
The feathers are a mixture of dyed ostrich feathers and goose biots. The center of the flower is a gold plated disc topped with fresh water pearls. Those same pearls, as well as some red glass crystals show up in the golden curls that mix with the feather trail.
The flower was triple stitched for extra hold, and all feathers, findings, backings, clip and gold curls are attached to the flower with a strong, flexible epoxy that resists yellowing and is waterproof (though I would not suggest getting this piece wet).
It is mounted on a 2 1/2 inch alligator clip.
