If it was 60 to 90 years ago and I was selling the typewriter, it would probably sound something like this: ‘enjoy new typewriter freedom with the machine X’s new rythm touch’ or ‘typist say: it’s easy touch and bosses say it’s quality of work’ (with of course the boss being the guy in a nice suit and the typist your typical Mad Men secretary!). You can see an example of one such add in the last picture (note: the brand of typewriter is not necessarily the one that i used here)
MODERN TIMES
I embrace the fact that you carry a little piece of history with you at all times and at the same time add your own story to it as well. This pin has a beautiful vintage key from one of those typewriters that were used early to mid last century. It is part of a crossover project with my other shop www.karlita.etsy.com.
It is made of felt, crochet and a typewriter key. It measures 1,6 inches in diameter (slightly smaller than the other textile broches, that are 1,8 inches in diameter) . The brooch is made of a thick grey felt circle with a beautiful old typewriter key on it. I crocheted all around the brooch in a happy yellow colour.
The typewriter key measures 0,55 inches and is authentic and decades old so expect some wear on it - that said, this one is in excellent condition, as you can see from the pictures. This is the key '3/4 /'.
On the back it closes with a very safe pin especially for brooches (it has a safety-system so it cannot get loose once you closed it). Very playful brooch to put on your sweater, t-shirt or bag. It's also fun to combine several of these together.
WHO FOR?
A typewriter key pin would make a great personalised gift for a birthday, an anniversary or a graduation. It’s also perfect for writers, authors, bloggers, journalists, librarians, … . Or buy it as a present to yourself of course (i love giving myself little presents)!
