Hand stitched humpback whale soft sculpture. He would love a warm, dry place in your home, but hopefully he will help bring to mind beautiful days at the beach or on the ocean whenever you see him. This whale is made from repurposed denim and a blue and grey linen, and stuffed with wool roving. Barnacles have been stitched on with cotton and wool yarn. Approximately 12.5" long, this whale is one of a kind and handmade with care. This whale has some extra sashiko stitching along the left side of his nose, a bit of care over a well-loved piece of fabric, something that has weathered many storms perhaps, just like a good whale should.
Humpback whales migrate along the west coast of North America, spending time along the passages of Vancouver Island. They are usually solitary creatures, but are sometime found in small groups. Humpbacks can often be spotted from far away, as their spouts reach metres into the air.
