Walking on a west coast beach, sand stretching for miles, can feel like a huge breath of fresh air. "Wide Open" captures that feeling in stitches, layers of fabrics carefully hand stitched into place to create the open shoreline perfect for exploring. Along the shore bits of washed up treasures wait to be found, long coils of bull kelp, green seaweed, blue mussels and other shells nestled in the sand. Silks and cottons make up the blue sky above a ragged coastal forest lining the shore, a few grey snags, or dead trees, sticking above the treeline.
"Wide Open" measures 31" x 21.5", and has two loops on the back for hanging. The title of the piece and the artist's name and date are stitched on the backing fabric. The entire piece is all hand stitched, using a mix of natural fabrics and a bamboo batting.
