An “afternoon dress” is how this is described on the pattern; and it is the perfect dress for any day you want a comfortable but flattering dress to enjoy yourself in, which I think is what they meant as not many of us change to receive visitors for tea these days!
A scooped neckline- not too deep, little sleeves and high waist will enhance a multitude of figures and look fresh and pretty too.
You could also make this shorter as a tunic to wear over jeans or leggings.
The stitch has a little textural interest on the bodice but is very easy and quick to make.
