Open it up for play, then close and latch for carrying and storage. Top white handle has a chip which seems typical of these older sets, though it does not affect the use- it can still be closed and carried. See photo detail.
The piece is in very good vintage condition with typical wear from play. The hinges work perfectly and there aren't any cracks. Doors open and close and are intact. All the stickers are intact, though some of the interior floor stickers have bubbled up a bit. Please see photos.
