About the process:
I painted sheets of cotton canvas with every shade of blue paint, dye, metallic paint and ink I could find. I then layered the canvas with beautiful pieces of organza, silk, tulle and metallic thread and free motion stitched an ocean wave pattern all over it. Once that was accomplished, I used a soldering iron and heat gun to melt away selective layers of the organza - revelaing a beautiful texture and depth rivaling that of the most beautiful ocean depths. Once I am satisfied with the overall appearance of the piece - I then begin the construction phase of the specific cover itself. It really is a very satisfying process.
I so love how this piece came out. The colors are absolutely delicious and I found the perfect antique bronze charm embellishment, "Dreaming of the Sea," to stitch to the closure. Perfect!!
