The images show all four sides of the lamp. The last image is of the lamp with the original materials (twigs, Gampi bark fiber, ginkgo leaves and moss.) In the background you can see some of my tools and my messy studio.

This sturdy lamp is made of handmade Gampi bark and abaca paper which are known for their strength and translucence. I start with the raw fiber. After cooking in an alkaline solution, the pure fibers are beaten to make a slurry and then formed into sheets which are wrapped around the twig framework. As the paper dries it shrinks tight creating a very taut and stable surface. The frame is made with a ¾” wood base to which the upright twigs are attached with epoxy clay.
As with all my lamps, this piece is finished with an acrylic medium for durability and ease of cleaning. It is lit with a 4 to 5 watt night light bulb in a candelabra socket that is inserted into the bottom of the lamp. The fixture has a 6 foot brown cord with an inline switch. Felt pads on the legs protect your fine furniture from scratches. To clean, dust lightly with a feather duster. The paper will tolerate humid conditions such as in a bathroom or on a covered porch but it must be protected from getting wet.
I build my lamps to last. With care this lamp can become a cherished heirloom -- a legacy of the wonder of the natural world.
With this lamp you will receive: the lamp (carefully packaged), the lighting fixture (with brown cord) and 4 watt bulb and care instructions.
