Several years ago when I cut the first golden curls off my one and a half year old son, Leo, I was beside myself. It marked a significant moment of transition from his babyhood to his toddlerhood and filled my heart with mother pride and fear. Not wanting to just stuff these golden locks into a book, envelope or plastic baggie never to be seen again, I decided to memorialize the moment by making a suncatcher from his soft baby strands. Since then I have made a number of these suncatchers for family and friends and my second golden-haired boy, and have loved watching the way they glimmer in the sunlight as a bright reminder of their once tiny selves.
Your custom suncatcher will be lovingly made with this same care and thought. Simply send me a tiny lock of hair (one curl is enough) with the name of your child and any other information you would like to include, and you can have a little memorial to babyhood of your own. Please convo me at check-out with the general color scheme you would like as well as any other wishes.
In general, suncatchers will measure approximately 2.5 x 2.5 inches not including the handmade hanging wire. Due to the custom nature of the work, turn around time will be between 1-2 weeks from the time I receive your hair to the time I ship the suncatcher back to you. Any unused locks will also be returned.
